WCO Theme for 2012: “Borders divide, Customs Connects”

On November 24-25, 2011 in Guangzhou, China, the World Customs Organization (WCO) co-hosted with the General Administration of China Customs, a World Customs and Trade Forum focused on harnessing knowledge as a means to improve public-private sector collaboration in modernization of the international trade supply chain.

At the end of the sessions, both a report and joint Customs and Trade communiqué were issued. Of particular note is the announcement by Mr. Mikuriya, WCO Secretary General, that the theme for 2012 will be “Borders divide, Customs Connects” and that this will be formally launched on International Customs Day in January 2012.

Both the IFCBA and the WCO Private Sector Consultative Group look forward to working with the WCO as it elaborates on its chosen theme in the coming months.
