IFCBA 2022 Conference - Presentations

January 6, 2023

Following our successful conference in Singapore, we’re pleased to share the presentations that were made over the two days.  The presentations are listed in the order that they occurred.

A global market transportation update

HS Classification Group Challenge

The following three case studies were shared with delegates, each representing challenges with the application of the Harmonized System of Tariff Classification. Delegates worked in groups to come up with the “correct” classification. Needless to say, there were differences of opinion in the room of customs broker tariff experts! This was an excellent way to kick off the conference, with business experts applying their knowledge and analytical skills, together.

The Harmonized System of Tariff Classification

Customs brokers are experts in tariff classification. IFCBA is participating in a review study on HS being conducted by the World Customs Organization. This presentation sets the stage for this study, and for the results of a survey conducted by IFCBA of its members (the survey results will be distributed to WCO and IFCBA members following the conference).

Focus on Education and Professional Development

Carol West, IFCBA Secretary presents the IFCBA Best Practices Model on Customs Broker Licensing
