Dear IFCBA Directors,
IFCBA had a very good response from 15 of our member associations to a survey on education priorities and possibilities for collaboration with the WCO (World Customs Organization) Academy. Please click here for the report. This survey was circulated to members of the Private Sector Consultative Group (PSCG), and we altered it slightly to meet the needs of our members.
There was unanimous support for what we would call the three Customs core competencies: Customs Valuation, Harmonized System and Rules of Origin. No surprise to us there! And next, with 70% or more of responses expressing interest were: Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Validation, Single Window and the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).
We were especially interested in the support of our members for the idea of a global certification programme offered to the private sector, in collaboration with the WCO Academy. This revives discussions IFCBA had held with the WCO before COVID. We were delighted to see 100% support for this idea from the 15 countries which responded to the survey. This gives us a solid foundation to continue discussions with the WCO on next steps.
I hope you enjoy reading the report and look forward to any comments you may have.
Best wishes,
Carol
