Deputy Director-General Rufus Yerxa, in a speech at the APEC Ministerial Conference in Vladivostok, Russia, on 5 September 2012, said that “APEC has asserted itself as a premier forum for championing open talks on some of the most recent, pressing and often controversial challenges facing the multilateral trading system”.
