WCO welcomes US-Japan Joint Statement on Global Supply Chain Security

The following is excerpted from a 2 May 2012 press release by the World Customs Organization.

Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Kunio Mikuriya, welcomes the recognition afforded by Japan and the United States (US) to the Organization’s instruments and programmes as playing an important part in the international community’s efforts to ensure global supply chain security while promoting trade facilitation.

The WCO Secretary General’s response comes in the wake of the Joint Statement on Global Supply Chain Security released by the Governments of Japan and the US as part of their commitment to pursue initiatives designed to protect the supply chain from terrorism and organized crime, and ensure thatif disruption occurs, global trade can recover quickly.
