Founded in January 2013, this company is competing in the Namibian Market for improved and professional Customs and Excise Brokerage and Consulting Services. They have started the business based on previous experience in Customs and Excise matters.

WTO warns G-20 trade restrictions continue to accumulate as pace of removal remains slow

Director-General Pascal Lamy, in his report on G-20 trade measures issued on 17 June 2013, said that “more than 100 trade-restrictive measures were implemented by G-20 economies over the past seven months, covering around 0.5% of G-20 merchandise imports”. He called on the G-20 to “take positive steps to unlock the potential for trade to grow stronger by ensuring a successful outcome at the next Ministerial Conference in Bali”.

The Revised Kyoto Convention has 86 Contracting Parties with the accession of the Republic of Albania

The Embassy of the Republic of Albania deposited Albania’s instrument of accession to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (Revised Kyoto Convention) with the World Customs Organization on 4 June 2013.

Having entered into force on 3 February 2006, the Revised Kyoto Convention now has 86 Contracting Parties, and is regarded as a blueprint for effective and modern Customs procedures.

China Begins Investigation of European Wine Imports

The following is excerpted from the 7 June 2013 edition of The Journal of Commerce.

China has launched an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation into wines imported from the European Union, Xinhua reports.

The decision follows a request from the China Alcoholic Drinks Association, which complained that EU countries have been selling wine to China at below-market prices. China’s Commerce Ministry will now investigate whether European winemakers are receiving improper subsidies in exporting their products to China.

Strike Hampers Shipments in Indonesia

A strike earlier this week at the leading Indonesia gateway port of Tanjung Priok is continuing to cause truck bottlenecks, according to forwarders.

While discharging and loading activities have continued as normal this week, the strike action on Monday and into Tuesday has impacted trucking operations to and from the port, which is located near the Indonesia capital Jakarta and handles around half of the country’s containers.
