Members review anti-dumping actions

The Committee on Anti-Dumping Practices, on 24 October 2012, reviewed reports by 32 members on anti-dumping actions taken during the first half of 2012, and considered more recent notifications of preliminary and final anti-dumping actions submitted by 25 members.

Lamy cites ACP's "instrumental role" in moving the trade debate forward

The following is excerpted from a 24 October 2012 speech by DG Pascal Lamy of the World Trade Organization.

Director-General Pascal Lamy, at the meeting of ACP Ministers of Trade in Brussels on 24 October 2012, said the Group of African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) members “is one of the more powerful and influential advocacy and negotiating arms in the WTO”. He urged the ACP to actively participate on five trade fronts: trade facilitation, regional integration, Aid for Trade, global value chains, and non-tariff measures.

Final extension granted to export subsidy programmes of 19 developing countries

The following is excerpted from a 23 October 2012 news item by the World Trade Organization.

The Committee on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, on 23 October 2012, approved the final extension of the transition period — until end 2013 — for export subsidy programmes of 19 developing countries. These programmes consist mainly of free trade zones and tax incentives.

Strong political support for Russian Customs reform highlighted at international event in Moscow

Panels set up on China's duties on US automobiles and on US compliance in Boeing dispute

The following is from a 23 October 2012 news item by the World Trade Organization.

The Dispute Settlement Body (DSB), on 23 October 2012, established a panel to examine a complaint by the United States against China’s anti-dumping and countervailing duties on US automobiles. In the Boeing dispute, it established a panel, at the request of the European Union, to examine whether the US had complied with DSB recommendations, and referred to arbitration a request by the EU to take countermeasures for $12 billion against the US.
