WTO: Public Forum 2023 to examine how trade can contribute to a greener, more sustainable future

The WTO’s annual Public Forum, to be held from 12 to 15 September 2023, will focus this year on how trade can contribute to a greener, more sustainable future. The Forum will examine in particular how the services sector, digitalisation and inclusive trade policies can support global environmental goals and help combat the climate crisis.

WTO members explore ways of boosting LDCs' participation in global supply chains

Increasing the participation of least-developed countries (LDCs) in global supply chains was the focus of an experience-sharing session on 20 February bringing together WTO members and business representatives from LDCs. The event was organized under the aegis of the Sub-Committee on LDCs. WTO members welcomed the United Kingdom’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme which is expected to enter into force later this year.

Solomon Islands deposited with the Belgian Government its instrument of accession to the Convention Establishing a Customs Co-operation Council on 26 January 2023 and thus become the 185th Member of the Organization.

An English-speaking archipelagic State, located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, Solomon Islands will be part of the WCO’s Asia/Pacific region.

The WCO is pleased to welcome the Solomon Islands into the international Customs family.

International Customs Day - January 26th, 2023

January 26th is International Customs Day, recognized all over the world and especially at the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Brussels. On this day, the WCO will dedicate 2023 to “Nurturing the next generation: promoting a culture of knowledge-sharing and professional pride in Customs.” This is a theme close to the IFCBA and its members around the world, as Customs experts and Customs practitioners.
