IFCBA Secretary Speaks at African Continental Conference on the Harmonized System

IFCBA Secretary Carol West spoke earlier this week at the World Customs Organization’s African Continental Conference on the Harmonized System.  Asked to speak about “The Private Sector as an indispensable partner in the implementation and application of the HS”, she focused on “The Importance and Role of Customs Brokers”.  All speakers were limited to 10 minutes.

Azerbaijan, World Customs Organization discuss prospects for cooperation

As part of his working visit to Brussels, Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya.

During the meeting, the sides praised the current level of cooperation between the WCO and Azerbaijan, and discussed prospects for cooperation in new areas.

The report on the inaugural round of the International Survey on Customs Administration (ISOCA) is now available on the WCO public website.

The data collected in this Survey is based on the combined efforts of 51 Customs administrations around the world, who provided information by completing an online questionnaire.

The Survey was developed and is managed jointly by the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The Directors General of Customs of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) met on 27 and 28 October 2021, via videoconference. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Carlos Benguela, Director General of Customs of Sao Tome and Principe.

Representatives of the Community’s eight member countries shared their Administrations’ experiences in the areas of managing international transit, conducting WCO Time Release Studies and implementing the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). Each presentation was followed by an exchange of views.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) notified that the license under Customs House Agents Licensing Regulations to be invalid, if the licensee is inactive for 1 year. The Board has notified the Customs Brokers Licensing (Amendment) Regulations, 2021 which seeks to amend Customs Brokers Licensing Regulations, 2018.
